Lorna & Matt’s Festival-Style Wedding at Powderham Castle

I had the absolute pleasure of creating bespoke braces and bow ties for Lorna and Matt’s incredible wedding, and I’m so excited to share their story with you!

Lorna and Matt wanted something truly special for their big day, so they chose one of my original prints—the Kingscote Peach pattern. I created four sets of braces, four bow ties, and an adorable matching set for their 2½-year-old son, who matched his dad perfectly. It was such a joy to see my designs as part of their stunning celebration!

A Celebration of “Us”

On the 20th of August 2022, Lorna and Matt tied the knot in a way that truly reflected who they are as a couple. Their vision? A festival-style, fun-filled summer fête that broke away from traditional wedding norms.

Set in the breathtaking American Garden at Powderham Castle, Devon, their day was filled with laughter, love, and plenty of unforgettable moments. The ceremony took place outdoors, followed by a magical party surrounded by tipis, fairy lights, and hay bales for seating. They even had a dedicated chill-out play zone for the kids, which was an absolute hit!

The Highlight of the Day

“While every part of their wedding was magical, one moment stood out: the look on their guests’ faces when a wandering minstrel vaudeville band suddenly appeared from the woods, playing 90s covers. It was a surprise that added an extra dose of fun and excitement to an already joyful celebration.”

Wedding Advice from Lorna & Matt

Lorna and Matt’s biggest takeaway from their special day? *“Do what makes you happy!”

“Make sure your wedding is exactly what you want as a couple. Don’t feel like you have to fit into traditional expectations if they don’t feel like you. Some of our family were a little unsure when they first heard our plans, but by the end of the day, they loved it just as much as we did.”

Their other top tip? Book your must-have suppliers early to avoid disappointment! They also highly recommend making your wedding child-friendly if you’re considering it— their son and the other children had their very own entertainment tent filled with games, making the celebration fun for all ages.

To add a final touch of magic, they used long strings of fairy lights in the trees and festoon lighting, creating an enchanting atmosphere as the sun set.

Sustainability is really important to me and as always, the accessories and gifts I created for Lorna and Matt, were designed to have a lifespan long beyond the wedding day as they can be worn again and again. I digitally print all my fabrics, only printing what I need, and I use every last bit of fabric so there is zero waste in my production process. I use natural and recycled fabric and print using eco inks. All the accessories were presented in recycled gift boxes and made in the UK.
